High-Temperature Superconducting Magnet Systems

R&D Mechanical Engineering Intern

In the summer of 2024, I had the chance to work on de-risking superconducting magnet systems on the R&D Mechanical Engineering team at Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS)

I designed components to be CNC-machined, optimized their designs through simulations, and integrated load cells to build a system that de-risked a critical component in a superconducting magnet system.

My work directly contributed to the design of the SPARC tokamak, which will pave the way for CFS to make commercial fusion energy possible.

I can’t disclose the work I’ve done due to an NDA.
